Feminism: Journey of an evolution of the oppressed-II

Hello readers!! Welcome back again to my series of blog posts on social topics where I the author present my views and we are open for a debate and discussion on the topic. Today's post will be a sequel to one of our earlier blogs, Feminism: Journey of an evolution of the oppressed,  and today we will be looking at the other side of the coin i.e, people taking wrong advantage of law in place to protect women and encourage feminism. In our previous blog we talked about how women had been oppressed since past unknown and have been curbed from growing in social and economic stature. But in the recent past the idea of Feminism and women empowerment has helped millions of such oppressed women come out and rightfully claim the stature they deserve in today's competitive world. Unfortunately with these great female leaders, there have also been a large number of miscreants who have grown exponentially in the recent past. These women have tried taking advantage of the laws made for empowering women and brought to shame all those true feminists who have worked really hard to climb that ladder of success to break the stereotype of "women are meant for taking care of kids and family". These women who try to take wrong advantage of laws framed for the good of the oppressed have been involved in acts of false allegation, extortion under threat to false allegation, and even going to the extent of killing their better half just for making some money, gaining popularity or both. One such case where a woman tried making false allegation against a her senior to avoid a performance improvement plan and a misconduct investigation was that of Miss Kerrie Edge( formerly an employee of Anglian Water) from the United Kingdom.

Miss Edge accused her boss Mr Paul Loughran of sexual harassment at work place and even accused him of having forced her to quit her job with Anglian water. Upon thorough inspection of the case by an Internal Investigation, it was found that Miss Edge had falsely accused Mr Loughran of harassment at workplace. In fact Mr loughran claims that Ms Edge had taken off from work earlier before she resigned to avoid a performance improvement plan and a misconduct investigation. A lot of members from the legal committee were interviewed before Mr Loughran was acquitted by the company according to a writ lodged at the high court. This example clearly shows us how some women try to take the wrong advantage of laws in place for protecting women at work place. You can read the news article here . Though such people are punished at the end of the story, the amount of mental stress hat one has to endure in personal and professional life is huge.

 If that was one way of taking wrong advantage then one would be terrified when you learn that women kill their better half just to claim an insurance policy worth a few hundred thousand dollars. There have been numerous such cases all across the globe and one of the latest being that of a woman from the state of Florida, United states of America. The woman strangled her husband to death to claim $600000 Insurance money upon his death. Read here . 

Similar cases of false allegations and

murders have been recorded all over the globe and there have been sophisticated rackets that are run my few miscreant groups to take all the wrong advantage of a the laws which are set for a noble cause making Feminism and laws made for women empowerment a double edged sword for a man. Thanks to acts like these there have been a lot of men's rights groups that are created everyday all over the world. This whole act is simply going to make our lives a lot more complex, complicated and miserable. After all we are starting to forget that relationships, be it personal or professional, are built on trust and taking wrong advantage of the trust and the laws in place is going to cause a detrimental effect on the mankind taking us closer only to a more dreadful world.

With this let us all start to pledge to ourselves to not take any wrong advantage of anything that is meant for our good and let us live together without groups to protect us and our rights irrespective of our gender. Let us not encourage any women rights activist to question our acts by letting our daughters, sisters and mothers choose what they want. At the same time let us ensure that our sisters, daughters, mothers or anybody for that matter, makes a false allegation on anyone else. Let us make a better world from now.

The Internet

Hello again readers. Hope you liked my previous blog on feminism and women harassment. If you haven't read it click here to read now. On today's topic for discussion let's talk about "The Internet" and see how it has affected a common mans daily life both good and bad.

As usual let us start with the definition of internet a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols, according to google.

So internet is supposed to be a large, unlimited, virtual network open for us to interact with all like minded people out there on the planet. That sounds similar to the idea of Facebook  but only with the exception that this is an open space where anyone can interact with any other person without ever revealing their identity. So that is so much more safe from acts of stalking and a lot more privacy to the end user(only if we thought so). 

Now let's start discussion on one of the most common and more well known advantages that internet provides us, which is the ability to learn and teach anything, to anybody, from anybody.People can learn anything from cooking to building their own robot over the internet using assistance from

various websites and online tutorials. there have been people who built their own mini choppers using the internet as well. Though this thought sounds really novel and amazing at first, but turns out to be a really dreadful when compared with the reality. Thinking why?? Because it is being used to learn an teach a lot of wrong things that harm lives and cause damage than help in building ones skill. The internet has been used in cases varying from planning of bomb blasts to even killing one self. A lot of terror groups have taken to social media and internet to plan terror attacks, while the internet is also filled with articles that teach anyone on techniques to kill people and even one self. If one doesn't ensure care while using the internet, there are websites and blog pages which convert an ordinary simple living individual into a radical with provoking thoughts to act violently and disturb law and order in their localities/state/countries. 

Moving on from that huge advantage of open sharing that the internet brought along with a drawback of safety we will realize that the internet is not such a bad place at all, when we understand that it helps us in making our lives better. We have applications and websites which are available over the internet to plan our day, train our employees, teach our kids and so on. All these applications and websites simply make life easier to the next level. The help that these websites provide along with a lot of tips has helped us in managing ourselves more efficiently and effectively as we result improving our productivity drastically. But just like the previous idea of open sharing of knowledge even this development of websites and tools that help us making our lives better come with a drawback of its own.Guessing what?? Its a threat to leak of your personal information and personal data. Applications and websites which use your details to plan a day for you or improve your efficiency in  working by showing places to improvise would have full access to your personal details and your personal schedules. This could only mean a lot more of those marketing e-mails from those big shopping sites which irritate you the most. Personal data privacy has been a major concern lately for the users of the internet as most of the websites take away your data and sell it off to the shopping sites who would be wanting to get in touch with you personally.

If you thought having your personal information could be the worst that could be done to think again, because the biggest threat is that of security breach to hack your computer from an unknown source and use all your confidential data without your permission. There have also been cases of hackers locking computers using the internet and asking ransom money for unlocking the computer. Though the internet is a big ocean where one can learn a lot, one has to be very careful about the drawbacks it has and act upon preventive measures to keep oneself safe from all these evils that have come into the internet.

Everything in this world has two sides to it just like a coin, so does the internet. This blog was an attempt to try and pull out a two different sides of the same coin i.e, the internet. Lets take all the advantage of the internet to socialize, learn and grow while we exercise caution while we use it. Lets all stay safe and make the internet a safer place by spreading this knowledge.

Feminism: Journey of an evolution of the oppressed

We here a lot about feminism and women empowerment daily over the news and read a lot of articles on the same on various social media platforms. Lately it has been a key issue of concern not even sparing global giants, one of which was accused with a case of women harassment in one of the software based transportation network company while another had the accusation of paying its female CEO less in comparison to her male predecessor . So over the course of this blog, let us understand the issue of "Women harassment and feminism", try to understand the root problem which has caused women to be on the receiving end of a really shameful act on human race and also see how, we can try to resolve a few of these issues.

As one of my professors at college always said let's start with the basics. What does feminism mean? Feminism refers to the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes, the google definition there. When we think of the idea of feminism we need to give a significant importance to the fact that over the hundreds and thousands of years of past that the mankind has evolved we have always kept women locked up inside our houses, for a really large portion of the history. Women were restricted on every aspect from wearing what they like to even doing the work that they loved to do. Women in certain regions and religions have even been stopped from going out to places they like. All this was done simply because they were women and men(also the elderly women from the family) believed that it was wrong for a woman to do all these things. So there is our first root problem we faced in having an equality irrespective of the gender; the thinking/mentality that a almost all men (and the elderly women in the family). The man always believed that the woman was meant to be locked up in between four walls of a house, the woman who wanted to go out and enjoy the beauty of the world at a young age started to believe that it was wrong for her daughter to do what she loved. All this, ladies and gentlemen, were again for two primary reasons; one being that fact that the mother was never allowed to do any of them and she expected her daughter to oblige by the same and the second, also the more important factor, being the fear of physical abuse by men. That brings us to our second key problem which has caused women to be locked  up which is physical abuse.

Though physical abuse on women has been largely condemned lately, we still have thousands of cases which simply don't come out to light and women are still suffering. A large portion of women who have been victims of physical abuse don't come out and take advantage of the rules that have been framed to protect them in the fear of harm to their loved and dear ones. The mental scar that a case of physical abuse could leave on an individual and her family is really damaging and long lasting. Well when we try to understand the possible reasons for the physical abuse by a man on a women one of the reason turns out to be another woman. Though unintentional on the woman's part, men getting attracted to other women leading to adultery in many cases lead to a bad/failed relationship between a husband and wife. When things get out of control and wife starts questioning the husbands actions, there have been and there still are a lot of cases where, the husband gets annoyed for no reason (even though the fact is that he is at fault) and subjugates wife by physical abuse. The other woman concept of reason could also be applied to the mother daughter scenario i presented earlier.

Now coming to the differentiation and issues that have been

troubling women lately, in the present. Women being payed less, women being treated below her male counterpart and all other issues that are happening in the corporate world are simply due to the impact the above discussed process of women suppression has had on our subconscious. We have developed a pre-conceived thought that women can not perform as good as men because of her not having experience in the domain, not being able work during her periods, blah blah blah and what not. It is the impact of all that our ancestors have done over the past that goes in and sits deep inside our minds, not just the men, even the women as well think so subconsciously. This results in them accepting lesser pays for the same job as their male counter parts, them tolerating harassment till it goes out of control and so on. Adding to this huge factor of mental impact on our subconscious is the way women warn men. The women who undergo, or see signs of harassment do not stand up strongly against the men who harass them and make a firm statement in many cases which makes the men get bolder. The harassing men get emboldened by the thought that the woman is not going to raise her voice and goes on harassing the woman.

When we consider this issue of women oppression we can see that the mentality of people over the past course of human history, the physical abuse, Adultery/ relationships with another woman, fear of harm to near and dear ones and also not taking a strong stand against the harasser have led to woman being harassed in more or less every aspect of her life in one or the other way. A woman has to take a strong stand and fight against harassment, if not the harassed then nobody else can fight her case. And when there is a will to fight, there is always a way to fight and stand up, come out clean and build a better future for our younger generations to come.
